Shopping For Your Tools

The last time I wrote I was considering going back to the raised foundation or Crawl space foundation because I do not believe there is the savings there once was in the continuous pour foundation. Any was I was at the project and cleaning the extra concrete from around my tie down and hold down bolts. I also steel brushed the threads for easier starting of the nuts. Something came up and I said OKAY the next thing I new my Milwaukee right angle drill was being returned to me broken. These ½ horse drills are convenient but they are not intended to replace the Hole Haug which Milwaukee makes.

After looking up a Milwaukee repair shop on line I decided that I needed to purchase a Whole Haug. I went to the tool store and they carried the cordless battery model but There are tools which I prefer to plug in to the cords. I have many battery powered tools but I do not believe they last as long. They tool still work fine but the batteries do not last as long as the tools. When you see the cost of the new batteries you realize you may as well buy the new and improved battery one.

AS I was shopping those pests that claim to be experts came calling and when I told them I was looking for the Milwaukee Whole Hawg they’d confined in me that they didn’t know what one was while asking what I wanted to do with it. A few informed me that most people used the battery powered drill and a butterfly bit to dill those holes. I told them they could leave and help someone else that I was looking for the tool I came in to purchase.

After a few days of searching, I looked on line for a corded Whole Haug and found a few. I compared the information and to my surprise I settled on purchasing it from Ace Hardware on line and then choosing a store closest to my location to pick it up at. I paid a little more but Ace was going to have it at my chosen location in three days because they had as I recall three in stock. The day came and I was not notified so I call the store I chose and they informed me that they hadn’t received it. They did not deliver on their contract with me and the corporate personnel who make those false claims on the web site can’t be contacted. But that is another issue. I was getting my right-angle drill fixed and purchasing the whole Haug because they have two separate purposes. The whole Haug is for bigger holes and has much more power to deliver than does the right-angle drill. That right angle drill has nuts and bolts so you can take the extension out if desired and the 90-degree turn can be taken of and flipped around to where it drills much faster than the slow pace the low speed preforms at.

Therefore, when you are shopping for you toll do your research and go shopping for it. Do not let some store associate that has never used most of the things they re trying to sell you. Don’t settle because you will never be satisfied with the settlement and many times the frustration builds to the point where you have to go purchase something different. True you may have to deal with some false advertisements and wait longer than you wanted to for the tool you selected but, in the end, you get the tool you did the research to find. Part of the research may be calling up your local tool rental yard and renting it for this project and waiting to see if you really need to put out the cash to own one. Live with the decision you make and don’t let some salesperson sway you so they can earn a small commission.
