As you are building your projects there are observations you make that the people working on the plans could not obtain from their offices. These observations are discovered because of your presences at the projects location and are not an oversight or lack of understanding by the plan’s developers. When you discover them contact the plans developers and communicate your observation. Often these discoveries are easily adaptable into the plans. If by chance you discover that your plans developer does want to adapt the plans because it’s a burden to them or for any reason other than building the best possible structure then you know not to use them a plans developer in the future.
I have finished sheeting the roof on the left half of the project but on the right portion I have plumbing stack and other pip runs to be installed in the attic space. Also, while the roof is still open, I will run the electrical wiring through the attic space as needed. When this is finished, I will finish sheeting the roof, and then stet the electrical boxes, the electrical panel and other component need so that I can call for a combination inspection where multiple tasks will be signed off. I could finish one task and call for the inspection but by calling for the combo I save time for me and inspecting bodies prefer this method as well. Some inspecting bodies charge per inspection after going over what they believe is a reasonable number granted with the permits. If you do not use the combo, you will most likely be charged the over inspection fee. If you do not know when you should call to set up your next inspection ask the inspector when the sigh off your card. These inspectors will work with you if you are willing to work with them. They are part of your team and you should use them as such. I strongly advise against the us and them mentality some builders take. Be honest, be respectful and fare with them and you will find that they will work with you and many times they offer so good observation advice. They see all types of new products being used. They may tell you of a new system or new technology that may help you in your quest to build a better project.
