Time is Money

After months of set backs and many reviews of the plans to build the structure there have been some unreasonable demands placed on the Architect and contractor for the construction. I have asked why some of these changes have been made understanding they have no benefit to the living area of the plans. The answer comes back because of this new regulation.

It appears that we suffer these crazy regulations because of committees, not because of need. Our politicians have created committees to reward some of the people who have helped their causes of self-advancement. There may have been a justifiable reason to form the committee to begin the process but once that issue has been resolved these committees still meet and get paid. They were chosen because of their expertise in one area but as their desire to continue drawing their pay the expand into areas where they may not be as qualified to give sound advice.

It comes with the territory. You sometimes need to shake your head and move on. Today’s plans are complicated and they come after correctly navigating through mountains of paperwork. Which make them more difficult to read because of all the details cannot fit on one page so details are scattered through out the plans where they fit.

Sometimes cities have to cover for the missing people and others are asked to preform task they may not be able to qualify for. This often slows down the process. You can laugh or cry but as bad as this maybe you do make a little progress with this adaptation.

I called for my combo inspection of the roof sheathing and my shear walls.

I returned to find this note written on the full set of plans left out for the inspector.

Wouldn’t this mean the person inspecting didn’t know how to read plans?

It is frustrating at times but I was able to dry in the project and will call for my next combo for rough plumbing and electrical with the shear shortly. Life sometime calls us adapt to the change’s others force on us. Sometimes setbacks are opportunities in disguise.
